Hi, I am Charley Ellison the founder and president of Telizent Communications, formerly 24-by-7 Service, Incorporated. I’ve been in the telecom and professional services industry for over 20 years in diverse rolls such as sales, sales management, consulting, and professional services. My telecom tenure blends a wealth of training and execution in customer relationship development and management, team building and development, and communication technology migration and scalability.
This blog is aimed at sharing my industry experiences with you, specifically the executive decision side of implementing business communications. There are financial considerations including hard and soft metrics, ROI, and TCO measures to explore. There are business processes and business decision models to consider. My personal favorite is developing an intelligent migration path. There are great business cases to be made for moving to VoIP and other emerging technologies, but rarely can a case be made for a complete rip and replace.
For readers who are sales professionals, my goal is to coach you to move from selling to prospects/customers to advising clients. For C-level readers, my goal of this blog is to share real life tangible and intangible (but high value) business results to be obtained from communications. Speaking of communications, this blog will refer to communications as business-to-business communications. Not just voice conversations, but rather conveying information more effectively across the demarcation of clients’ customers and partners, be they internal to your organization or traditional customers (buyers) and partners (suppliers or knowledge workers).
My goal is to coach both executives investing in communication technologies and the sales professionals* who are developing solutions for their clients.
[*The term “sales professionals” refers to an attitude of helping clients develop the best solutions for their business. This is in contrast to the all too common peddler mentality who is trying to “sell” their products/services wherever they can. Summarizing the economics behind any proposed investment is the best way to turn a prospect into a life-long client. A sales professional invests the time to learn the business and be capable of translating the impact of a proposed change into the common denominator or language of business.]
I look forward to engaging in an on-going dialog with you. I seek your feedback, both positive and negative. Share with all of the readers what metrics and models your firm uses for communication decisions. Together we can make this blog a valuable resource for other decision makers, whether they are seasoned or new entrants into the role.
A final note: I ask that you keep the exchange professional. We will remove any comments that are unduly disparaging or use rough language. Thanks for your interest, now let’s get going.
Hi, I am Hal Anderson, the chief technology officer at Telizent Communications, formerly 24-by-7 Service, Incorporated. I’ve been a geek for over 20 years emphasizing innovative, Internet-based products and services developed through strong, best of breed partnerships. I have a particular affinity for open source and e-commerce solutions, with plenty of hands-on experience in development for these platforms.
This blog addresses the CTO perspective of business communications. There are a variety of vendors in the market, some coming from the traditional telephony side and some coming from the networking side. There are also communications providers coming from the open source and cloud environments. We’ll discuss the pluses and minuses of different solutions, and what applications and elements the CTO needs to consider both near and long term in the decision process.
This blog will be most valuable if communication is bi-directional. Comment on your experiences with different vendors, offer feedback on my thoughts and positions, respond to other readers’ input. Collectively we can make this blog a valuable resource for other CTOs and communication decision makers, whether they are seasoned professionals or new entrants into the role.
Please keep the exchange professional. We will remove any comments that are unduly disparaging or use rough language. Thanks, in advance, for your interest and in sharing your thoughts.
I’m Perry Lundquist, the director of operations at Telizent Communications. Welcome to my blog on tips and secrets of maintaining your business communications environment. I have been doing hands-on telecommunications initiatives for over 20 years. My background in managing sales and service operations affords me a wealth of knowledge across a wide variety of vendors. I have a working knowledge of traditional telephony providers’ equipment, as well as new communication vendors from networking, open source and cloud environments.
This blog will cover topics the communications vendors don’t typically address when servicing your environment. It will include top ten lists, trouble shooting lists, FAQs, and questions you should ask. I’ll be skipping around the different communication vendors, but if you have a burning question that hasn’t been addressed just yet, by all means, post it here. I’ll find the answer and give you hand. If you have the answer to a question, or a better solution than what I suggest, post your knowledge. The wisdom of this crowd could just save someone an unnecessary field service call.
Thanks for visiting the blog. Bookmark it, or better yet, add it to your newsfeed so you don’t miss any valuable tidbits. I’ll make every effort to ensure you aren’t wasting your time here. In exchange, contributing your feedback, insights, and experiences will help keep the discussion threads active and valuable to everyone.
We want this blog to be valuable. Unduly disparaging comments and foul language don’t contribute to the discussion and will be removed. Thanks for visiting and I look forward to our conversations.
I’m Brandon Behan, the director of sales & marketing at Telizent Communications. I suppose you could call me a geek but I like to refer to myself as a technology aficionado. I’m passionate about learning and cannot get my hands on enough information about telecommunications and the role it plays in our daily lives.
This blog will address issues ranging from search engine marketing and the rapidly changing world of social media to insights into the telecommunications industry and the need for continual education in an industry where the landscape is constantly shifting. As much as I enjoy writing, this blog will be of little value without you bringing your valuable insights and experiences. Let’s learn from one another and push each other to grow both professionally and personally.
I want this blog to be valuable to all of our readers so please keep the exchange professional. We will remove any comments that are unduly disparaging or use rough language. Thank you for joining the conversation and I look forward to getting to know you.
